Çatal Hüyük

Neolithic site (6000 BC) in Turkey, southeast of Konya. It was a fortified town and had temples with wall paintings, and objects such as jewellery, obsidian, and mirrors. Finds at Jericho and Çatal Hüyük together indicated much earlier development of urban life in the ancient world than was previously imagined.
