Études symphoniques

    0.01 sec.

Études symphoniques

A set of 12 concert studies for piano by Robert Schumann, Op. 13, at first entitled Études en forme de variations, composed in 1834. They are variations on a theme by the father of Ernestine von Fricken, with whom Schumann was in love at that time, but they are dedicated to Sterndale Bennett, in whose honour Schumann introduced into the finale a theme from the opera Ivanhoe by Marchschner, Der Templer und die Jüdin: a song in praise of England. Five further variations are sometimes now given.
