Širola, Božidar (1889–1956)

Yugoslav composer. He studied at Zagreb, and in Vienna where he obtained a doctorate. He was later director of the Music Academy at Zagreb.

Works

operas Stanac (1915), The Wandering Scholar and four others; ballet Shadows; incidental music to plays; three oratorios; symphony, suite and overtures for orchestra; 13 string quartets (1920–55), three piano trios; songs.
