Štěpán, Vaclav (1889–1944)

Czech pianist, critic, and composer. He studied with Novák and others, and became professor of musical aesthetics at the Prague Conservatory. His literary works include a study of Musical Symbolism of Programme Music; amongst his compositions are the poem Life's Halcyon Days for cello and piano.
