‘Uncle Remus’  Brer Rabbit is one of the most famous and most endearing heroes created by US writer Joel Chandler Harris in his ‘Uncle Remus’ stories. Brer Rabbit is shown, in an illustration by J A Shepherd from 1901, relaxing in front of his fireplace.
