‘socialism in one country’

Concept proposed by the Soviet dictator Stalin in 1924. In contrast to Leon Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution, Stalin suggested that the emphasis be changed away from promoting revolutions abroad to the idea of building socialism, economically and politically, in the USSR without help from other countries.
