'Gastein' Symphony

    0.02 sec.

‘Gastein’ Symphony

Symphony in C major, supposed to have been written by Franz Schubert during a visit to Gastein in the autumn of 1825, of which no trace is left. It has been suggested that it is identical with the Grand Duo for piano duet, Op. 140, but recent views identify it as the ‘Great’ C major symphony. It must therefore have been composed in 1825, not, as previously thought, in 1828.
