‘Rapunzel’

Folk tale collected by the Grimm brothers. Rapunzel is named after a plant that her pregnant mother had eaten from the garden of a witch. In return for the plant, the witch demands that the baby be handed over to her. She brings up the girl and imprisons her in a tower which can only be entered by climbing up her long hair. The witch tries to destroy a rescuing prince but Rapunzel heals him with her tears.
