‘Rhenish’ Symphony

The name of Schumann's third symphony, in E flat major, Op. 97, begun after a Rhine excursion in September 1850. The fourth of the five movements is said to be an impression of Cologne Cathedral. It was first performed in Düsseldorf on 6 February 1851.
