Massey Knakal Realty Services has sold two six-story elevatored
apartment buildings at 1261 Schenectady Avenue and 787 East 46th Street
in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn in an all-cash transaction
valued at $10,500,000. Niarchos Foundation, the exhibit features 350 Byzantine
treasures created from 1261 to 1557, a period when religious art
flourished. As the triumphant Byzantine general Michael VIII Palaiologos
entered Constantinople on August 15, 1261, carrying aloft the famed icon
of the Virgin Hodegetria, the city's eternal protector, he
initiated an artistic and intellectual flowering in Byzantium, and among
its East Christian rivals, that would endure for nearly 300 years. |
