24-bit colour

In computing, term specifying that a video adapter is able to display more than 16 million colours simultaneously. The human eye processes 16 million colours with every blink, and a computer needs the same number of colours to be able to display pictures of a photographic quality. Powerful microprocessors, large amounts of RAM, and mass storage media are needed to handle the large computer files involved in holding such complex data.
