Stories, founded on an earlier Persian collection of tales, are recorded in the archives and give rise to the legend of Scheherezade and the Alf Laylah wa-Laylah/A Thousand and One Nights – The Arabian Nights. Harun reigns until 809, presiding over a golden age of Arab civilization.
