Volvo

Swedish motor vehicle manufacturer founded in 1927 by Gustaf Larson and Assar Gabrielsson. In the mid 1970s Volvo acquired the Dutch DAF concern. In 1999 Volvo sold its car division to the Ford Motor Company, concentrating its focus largely on commercial vehicles. In 2001 it acquired Renault Trucks and its subsidiary Mack Trucks in the USA, and in 2007 completed the purchase of the Japanese truck manufacturer Nissan Diesel.
