Qualified candidates are B/C in general pediatrics or pediatric sub-specialty recognized by the ABP and the ABMS with 5+ years successively broader leadership roles, demonstrating strong visionary, administrative, clinical skills, ability to employ a variety of leadership styles, experienced in managing physicians, medical clinics, hospital departments, quality assurance, risk management, utilization, and regulatory requirements.

The American Board of Internal Medicine has also initiated an application to the ABMS for subcertification, further validation that the subspecialty of Adolescent Medicine continues to thrive.
