Association for Computing Machinery

US organization made up of computer professionals of all types. Its monthly journal, the Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery, is peer-reviewed. Its subsidiary special interest groups, or SIGs, focus on areas such as graphics and human–computer interaction. Several of these run major conferences for their areas such as SIGGRAPH (graphics) and SIGCHI (human–computer interaction).

The equivalent UK organization is the British Computer Society (BCS).
