Association for Computing Machinery

US organization made up of computer professionals of all types. Its monthly journal, the Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery, is peer-reviewed. Its subsidiary special interest groups, or SIGs, focus on areas such as graphics and human-computer interaction. Several of these run major conferences for their areas such as SIGGRAPH (graphics) and SIGCHI (human-computer interaction).

The equivalent UK organization is the British Computer Society (BCS).
