Aaron, Hank (1934- )

US baseball player, holder of the all-time records for home runs and for runs batted in. In the course of his career, primarily with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves, he won the National League batting title twice, in 1955 and 1959. In 1957, as a member of the World Championship team, he was named the National League's most valuable player. His greatest achievement was breaking Babe Ruth's lifetime record of 714 home runs; by the time of his retirement in 1976, Aaron had hit a total of 755 home runs.
