Abdul-Aziz (1830–1876)
| Sultan of Turkey 1861–76. He succeeded his brother Abd al-Mejid I. His reign was one long struggle against rebellion in Turkey's European provinces, and he is remembered chiefly for his extravagance and bad government. He was deposed 30 May 1876, and found dead four days later. |
