| "Red Riding Hood" is updated in an abecedarian version. Joe Gauld says that he is now working with Craig Ramey, a founding
director of the famed Abecedarian Project on early childhood
development, on a school for children ages birth to five that would
combine parental involvement, character formation, and cognitive
development. In "Highway Alphabet," for example, the
narrator traces his trip home by naming the highways and what he sees
along them--in a not-quite abecedarian fashion:
