Abendroth, Hermann (1883–1956)| German conductor. He conducted the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra during the Nazi regime, leading a production of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Bayreuth 1943–44. After World War II he held posts in East Berlin and Leipzig. |
| He studied with Felix Mottl in Munich and conducted the Lübeck Opera 1907–11. He was music director of the Gurzenich Orchestra 1918–34, and guest conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra 1927–37. |
