Abercrombie, John (1726-1806)

English writer on horticulture. He was employed at Kew Gardens and published Every Man his own Gardener 1767. His book supplied, for the first time, detailed instructions which were drawn from extensive practical experience; being far more informative than the chief publications of the time, it quickly attained popularity.
