Abington, Mrs Fanny (1737–1815)

English actor. She was engaged for Drury Lane by David Garrick, where she was the first Lady Teazle 1777 and created a number of other parts. She was also well known for Shakespearean roles, especially Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing. She left Drury Lane 1782 for Covent Garden, where she remained until her retirement 1790.

Sir Joshua Reynolds painted her as Miss Prue in Love for Love.
