Abler, Ronald (Francis) (1939– )

Wisconsin-born geographer. Abler was director of the Geography and Regional Science Program at the National Science Foundation from 1984–88, becoming executive director of the Association of American Geographers in 1990.

Abler co-authored a major text on the spatial organization tradition in geography (1971) and has edited a comparative atlas of US metropolitan regions (1976).
