Abler, Ronald (Francis) (1939- )

Wisconsin-born geographer. Abler was director of the Geography and Regional Science Program at the National Science Foundation from 1984-88, becoming executive director of the Association of American Geographers in 1990.

Abler co-authored a major text on the spatial organization tradition in geography (1971) and has edited a comparative atlas of US metropolitan regions (1976).
