Acanthodii

The spiny sharks, one of the five classes of fishes, now extinct. They were about 10–30 cm/4–12 in long, and possessed features of both the sharks, which have a cartilaginous skeleton, and the bony fish, which have a bony skeleton. They are the earliest known jawed vertebrate animals.
