Acca Larentia

Italian earth goddess of Etruscan origin. Her festival, the Larentalia, was on 23 December. According to one legend, as wife of Faustulus she was nurse of Romulus and Remus. Another makes her wife of Tarutius, a wealthy Etruscan, whose fortune she inherited and bequeathed to the Roman people.
