Ahab (c. 875–854 BC)

King of Israel. His empire included the suzerainty of Moab, and Judah was his subordinate ally, but his kingdom was weakened by constant wars with Syria. By his marriage with Jezebel, Princess of Sidon, Ahab introduced into Israel the worship of the Phoenician god Baal, thus provoking the hostility of Elijah and other prophets. Ahab died in battle against the Syrians at Ramoth Gilead.

Among cases dealt with at Teesside Magistrates' Court on June 30 were: Achav Raheim, 27, of Kingston Street, Middlesbrough, banned from driving for 12 months and fined pounds 100 for drink-driving, having no insurance and driving without an appropriate licence.
