Acorus

Genus of plants of the Araceae (arum lily) family which has two species, Acorus calamus, the sweet flag, and A. gramineus, a Japanese plant. The rhizome has a sweet-scented oil, and by its branching reproduces the plant vegetatively. The plant was one of the mediaeval strewing herbs used to sweeten floors.

Mick Robson of Acorus is promoting the site's potential for tourist accommodation, by highlighting the heritage of Teesdale and the area's medieval castles and country towns, as well as tourist attractions such as the High Force waterfall, the Killhope Mining Museum and Beamish Open Air Museum.
Chief executive Tim Wright said the growth was driven by the acquisition of pharmaceuticals firm Acorus last April, as well as by strong growth domestically and internationally.
