Adamov, Arthur (1908–1970)

Russian-born French poet and dramatist. A surrealist, Adamov contributed to the Theatre of the Absurd with his plays Professeur Taranne 1953 and Ping Pong 1955. His style, influenced by a Brechtian social and political awareness, is best illustrated in Paolo Paoli 1957 and Le Printemps '71/Spring '71 1961, a history of the Paris Commune of 1871.
