Adams, Leason Heberling (1887-1969)

US geophysicist. Adams published a new method of heating and gradually cooling (or ‘annealing’) optical glass in 1920. Adams gained further recognition for his research into the elastic properties of minerals and rocks at high pressure, especially as they related to the composition of the earth.

He served as Professor of Geophysics at the University of California: Los Angeles from 1958 until his retirement in 1965.
