Adjani, Isabelle (1955- )

French actor. She made her film debut in 1969, going on to establish herself in La Gifle/The Slap (1974) and François Truffaut's L'Histoire d'Adèle H/The Story of Adèle H (1975). She has since appeared in a number of French and international productions, including The Driver (1978), Nosferatu - Phantom der Nacht/Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), Camille Claudel (1989), La Reine Margot/Queen Margot (1994), and Diabolique (1996).

An intense presence on the screen, Adjani has won three Césars, the French equivalent of the Academy Awards. After 17 years off the stage, in 2000 she appeared in the play Lady of the Camellias, in Paris.
