Adler, Guido (1855-1941)

Czech-German musicologist and editor. He studied in Vienna, and was appointed professor of musicology at Prague University in 1885, becoming professor in Vienna in 1898, in succession to Eduard Hanslick. He wrote many books on music including studies of Wagner (1904) and Mahler (1916), and edited Handbuch der Musikgeschichte/Handbook of the History of Music (1924).
