Adler, Nathan Marcus (1803–1890)

German-born chief rabbi of the Jews of the British Empire. He was chief rabbi in Oldenburg 1829 and Hannover 1830, and was appointed to the chief rabbinate in London 1845, where he did much to reunite the various Jewish congregations.

He published sermons and other works, including one on the Pentateuch. He was succeeded in office by his son Hermann Adler (1839–1911).
