Aegina (or Aigina)

Greek island in the Gulf of Aegina about 32 km/20 mi southwest of Peiraias; area 83 sq km/32 sq mi; population (2001) 11,600. In 1811 remarkable sculptures were recovered from a Doric temple in the northeast and taken to Munich, Germany.
