Agazzari, Agostino (1578-1640)

Italian composer. He held various church posts in Rome, but returned to his birthplace Siena in 1630 as maestro di cappella of the cathedral. He wrote an early treatise on thorough bass, Del sonare sopra 'l basso (1607).

Works

pastoral Eumelio, madrigals, Masses and other church music, and two books on music.
