    0.04 sec.

Aguascalientes

City and capital of the state of Aguascalientes, in central Mexico; population (1990 est) 479,700. Industries include pottery, metal smelting, tanning, and cotton textiles. The mild climate and local hot mineral springs have helped the development of Aguascalientes as a health resort.

The town was founded in 1575 on the basis of local silver mining, and became important as a centre of commerce in the 19th century when it was linked to the railway network.
