AhaggarLarge plateau region in the central Sahara, about 1,500 km/932 mi south of Algiers. It averages about 900 m/2,953 ft above sea level, its highest point being Mount Tahat (2,918 m/9,573 ft). The plateau is the home of the formerly nomadic Tuareg.
