Aichi

Japanese aircraft of World War II, principally used by the navy.

The B7A, known to the Allies as ‘Grace’, was a torpedo-bomber produced in small numbers. The D3A, known as ‘Val’, was a carrier dive bomber of great strength and efficiency; it was the principal dive bomber used at Pearl Harbor December 1941, and sank numerous Allied warships throughout the war. The E13A, ‘Jake’, was a floatplane used for reconnaissance; it was used in this role to prepare the way for the Pearl Harbor raid, and was carried by almost all Japanese warships.

After closing the plant, the operations carried out there will be transferred to its headquarters site in Komaki, Aichi Prefecture, and to a manufacturing base in Oita Prefecture, with 100 full-time workers to be reassigned within the firm.
