Ainsworth, Walden (1886–1960)

US rear admiral in World War II. He held various commands in the Pacific theater of the war and is principally remembered for his part in the battles of the Kola Gulf and Kolombangara in 1943, where forces under his command were able to break up Japanese attempts to reinforce their troops in the Solomon Islands.
