Wind turbines at the Delabole Wind Farm, in Cornwall, the first wind farm in the United Kingdom. Its ten turbines have a total generating capacity of 4 megawatts. There are now six wind farms in the county of Cornwall, with a combined total output of more than 31 megawatts of electricity, enough to meet the annual needs of 19,500 homes.

Windmill of advanced aerodynamic design connected to a generator producing electrical energy and used in wind-power installations. Wind is a form of renewable energy that is used to turn the turbine blades of the windmill. Wind turbines can be either large propeller-type rotors mounted on a tall tower, or flexible metal strips fixed to a vertical axle at top and bottom.
