Akbar-nama

Book of miniatures (Victoria and Albert Museum, London) painted by Basawan and Chatai about 1595 for Akbar, Mogul emperor of northern India. The product of a workshop run by Safavid painters from the court of Shah Tahmasp of Persia, the jewel-like paintings of the exploits of the emperor show not only Persian but also Western influence. See also Indian art and Islamic art.
