Akeley, Mary Lee (1878-1966)

US naturalists and explorer. After the death of her husband, the naturalist Carl Akeley, Mary made several exploratory trips to Africa, continuing Carl's work. She collected many materials for the American Museum of Natural History, New York City, and won international recognition for her work maintaining natural life in Africa.
