Opera by Philip Glass (libretto by the composer with S Goldman, R Israel, and R Riddell), first produced in Stuttgart, Germany, on 24 March 1984. The story is based on the hermaphrodite, monotheist Egyptian Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty.
