Alain, Jehan (Ariste) (1911–1940)

French composer. At the Paris Conservatory he studied organ with Marcel Dupré and composition with Paul Dukas and Jean Roger-Ducasse. He became a church organist in Paris in 1935, but served in World War II and was killed in action.

Works

numerous choral compositions, mainly sacred; three dances for orchestra; chamber music; piano and organ works; songs.
