Albany County

County in east New York, USA; area 1,357 sq km/524 sq mi; population (1990) 292,600. It is bounded by the Hudson River, the Mohawk River, and the New York State Barge Canal. It includes the Helderberg Mountains and foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Albany County's administrative headquarters and largest city is Albany, the New York state capital, which dominates much of the county with its governmental apparatus, industries, and port facilities. It also contains numerous residential and industrial suburbs. Filled with small towns and villages, the balance of the county is largely agricultural, and is active in dairy, fruit, livestock, and vegetable farming.

(35) John Ripley of Albany County served in the Third Massachusetts Regiment of Colonel Greaton and was at the battles and surrender of General Burgoyne at Saratoga in October 1777.
The New York State transaction included nine properties located in Saratoga County, two in Rensselaer County and one in Albany County.
The legislature must act and the recalcitrant DAs must get out of the way, or go the way of the Albany County incumbent.
