Albee, Fred

Albee, Fred (Houdlette) (1876–1945)

US orthopedic surgeon. From 1906 onwards, Albee pioneered the techniques of bone grafting, and by 1911 he had perfected a method for fusing tubercular vertebrae without using metal. Albee's discoveries found widespread use during World War I. After the war, he turned his attention to victims of industrial accidents in New York and New Jersey.
