Albert Canal

Canal, 128 km/80 mi long, designed as part of Belgium's frontier defences. It links the River Meuse and the industrial basin of Liège with the port of Antwerp and the River Schelde. It was built 1930–39 and named after the Belgian monarch, Albert I.
