Alcazarquivir, Battle of

Battle on 4 August 1578 between the forces of Sebastian, King of Portugal (1554-1578), and those of the Berber kingdom of Fès. Sebastian's death on the field of battle paved the way for the incorporation of Portugal into the Spanish kingdom of Philip II.
