Aldeburgh Festival

Annual festival of operas and other concerts, established in 1948 at Aldeburgh, Suffolk. The events have centred on the works of Benjamin Britten, who lived at Aldeburgh, and take place at The Maltings, a concert hall at nearby Snape. First performances of Britten's works to be given here include the operas A Midsummer Night's Dream (1960) and Death in Venice (1973).
