Aldred (or Ealdred) (died 1069)

English monk. He became abbot of Tavistock about 1027, bishop of Worcester 1044, and archbishop of York 1060. He negotiated with the Holy Roman Emperor Henry III for the return to England of Edmund Ironside's son 1054. He probably crowned Harold II, and certainly crowned William the Conqueror.
